From Home Plate to the Fairway!
There’s something truly special about connecting with a community through shared experiences, especially when those experiences involve local sports and the energy of a live crowd. Recently, I had the chance to dive into two fantastic outings that brought the Whataburger brand closer to Oklahoma City’s vibrant sports scene. These moments weren’t just about marketing — they were about building relationships, supporting youth, and celebrating the spirit of our community. I’m excited to share these stories with you and reflect on how showing up in person makes all the difference.
A Day at the Oklahoma City Comets Baseball Game
Walking into the stadium of the Oklahoma City Comets, a semi-professional baseball team, was like stepping into a world buzzing with energy and local pride. What made this outing even more exciting was the opportunity to explore the park behind the scenes before the game started. We weren’t just spectators; we got to walk the field, see the stadium up close, and soak in the atmosphere that makes baseball such a beloved sport here.
One of the highlights was capturing some great photos right on the field. It was thrilling to watch the game as it was my first time at the ballpark! The game itself was a high-energy event filled with cheers, great plays, and a real sense of community spirit. Being there in person allowed us to connect with sports fans in a fun and authentic way. It’s one thing to sponsor a team from afar, but it’s another to be part of the action, sharing the excitement and passion that baseball brings to Oklahoma City.
I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Oklahoma City Comets organization for their warm hospitality and for giving us this unique opportunity. It’s partnerships like these that make community marketing so rewarding.

Supporting Youth at Earlywine Golf Course
Our community connection didn’t stop at the baseball diamond. Somedays after, we headed to Earlywine Golf Course to support a wonderful youth golf program. This outing was all about giving back and encouraging young athletes as they develop their skills and enjoy the game of golf.
We were proud to donate 100 taquitos to provide breakfast for the kids participating in the program. Starting the day with a good meal is important, especially for young athletes who are learning the value of discipline, practice, and teamwork. It felt great to contribute in a small but meaningful way to their morning and their growth.
Watching the kids on the course, focused and enthusiastic, reminded me why community support matters. These programs build more than just athletic skills — they build confidence, friendships, and a sense of belonging. Being there to cheer them on and share a meal was a rewarding experience that reinforced our commitment to supporting youth development through sports.
I’m grateful for the chance to be part of this morning at Earlywine Golf Course and to connect with the families and coaches who make this program possible.
Building Stronger Communities Through Grassroots Marketing
Both of these outings highlight what grassroots community marketing is all about. It’s about showing up in person, building genuine relationships, and giving back to the people who make our neighborhoods special. Whether it’s the roar of the crowd at a baseball game or the quiet focus of young golfers on the green, these moments create lasting connections.
Being part of local sports events allows us to support the community while sharing the Whataburger spirit in a way that feels natural and meaningful. These experiences remind me that marketing is not just about messages or logos — it’s about people, shared experiences, and mutual support.
Looking ahead, I’m excited about future partnerships and events with both the Oklahoma City Comets and Earlywine Golf Course. There’s so much potential to grow these relationships and continue celebrating the incredible community around us.
Thank you for following along on this journey. If you want to stay updated on more community events and local stories, be sure to follow. I can’t wait to share what’s next!
